SK E&S Said, “2021 will be the first year the company leaps to becoming a major global green energy company”

- SK E&S declared its organizational transformation into “green portfolio” by achieving the goals of becoming a leader in the global hydrogen market and executing a differentiated business model for renewable energy

SK E&S vowed to transform its business structure into “green portfolio” to grow into a major global green company.

Co-CEOs of SK E&S Yu Jeong-Joon and Choo Hyung-Wook suggested key tasks to undertake this year in their new year’s messages: complete “green portfolio” covering hydrogen, renewable energy and energy solution, maintain the company’s competitive advantages by revamping existing business models in power generation, LNG and city gas, and increase happiness of members and stakeholders of the company by “keeping lines of communication open”.

Looking back at the past year, Vice Chairman Yu Jeong-Joon said, “Despite uncertainties amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we were able to lay the foundation for a global LNG value chain by obtaining a stake in LNG terminals in China as the first foreign company last year.” He added, “For renewable energy business, we won the business permit for the Saemangeum Award-winning solar power project and increased investments at home and in the U.S., revamping our business portfolio effectively to be prepared for “carbon neutrality”.

He asked, “Please join me in making 2021 the first year when our “financial story” about taking SK E&S to the next level is written as well as the first year when we transform our business portfolio into “green portfolio” including hydrogen, renewable energy and energy solution by learning from lessons in the existing LNG value chain.”

Assuming the position of Co-CEO of SK E&S with Vice Chairman Yu Jeong-Joon, Choo Hyung-Wook shared his ambitious goals in his new year’s message, “Global energy paradigm is shifting rapidly from fossil fuel to green energy driven by values of ESG (Environment, Social and Governance).” He continued, “Taking the paradigm shift as an opportunity, we will rise to daunting challenges to quantum jump to become a major global energy company.”

He added, “By proactively responding to the hydrogen economy in the foreseeable future, we will grow into the leading company in hydrogen business”. He also stressed, “We will commit ourselves to maximizing both of economic values and social values by implementing ESG-driven business models in our renewable energy and energy solution business”.

Co-CEO Choo encouraged members of the company by saying, “Let’s revamp the business models of our existing business such as power generation, LNG and city gas and build an efficient business structure to increase our profitability and growth potential.”

He concluded his message by mentioning, “Encouraging open communication, we will create a culture where members of the company and the company all grow together while increasing happiness of our stakeholders”.

The Co-CEO added, “It is possible for us to build a major global green company only when members of the company rise to challenges vigorously and find courage.” He said, “I hope members of the company are free-spirited but fierce and compassionate but bold to write SK E&S’ own financial story”.
