Low Carbon LNG
SK Innovation E&S shifts to a low carbon LNG business based on the CCS technology that captures and stores carbon dioxide generated when natural gas is produced.
-
Transition to green LNG BM through the CCS technology
-
Contribution to the hydrogen ecosystem by producing blue hydrogen, etc.
-
Expansion of new growth LNG demand such as companies
SK Innovation E&S will secure the world's top-level CCS technology
to strengthen the eco-friendliness and sustainability of the LNG value chain from gas field development to LNG generation business.

UPSTREAM
Upstream is a field of exploration, development, and production of natural gas.
SK Innovation E&S is conducting global projects around the world.
Map of the Barossa-Caldita Project in Australia
Barossa-Caldita project in Australia
We have secured a stake in the Barossa-Caldita
offshore gas field in Australia and are working on
a joint project with Santos Australia.
SK Innovation E&S plans to produce low-carbon LNG using
CCS technology from 2025 by utilizing
nearby Darwin LNG liquefaction plants.
Woodford Project in USA
Woodford Shale project in the U.S.
In 2014, we secured a stake in Continental
Resources's Oklahoma Woodford gas field,
which produces about 1,000,000 tons of natural gas
annually through joint development.
Map of Tangguh Project in Indonesia
Tangguh Project in Indonesia
SK Innovation E&S has introduced 500,000 to 600,000 tons of natural gas every year through the Tangguh gas field in Indonesia since 2004.
MIDSTREAM
Midstream is an intermediate stage of the LNG value chain that liquefies, transports, stores, regasifies, and distributes the natural gas which is secured upstream. SK Innovation E&S has established the entire midstream area by securing the liquefaction facilities and LNG vessels from Freeport LNG of the U.S. and operating Boryeong LNG Terminal.
Freeport project
Have a liquefaction terminal in the U.S.
SK Innovation E&S signed an agreement on the use of natural gas liquefaction facilities with an annual capacity of 2.2 million tons with Freeport LNG, an American firm. It has imported American shale gas since 2020.
Boryeong LNG Terminal
Built Boryeong LNG Terminal
SK Innovation E&S has jointly operated Boryong LNG Terminal with GS
Energy since 2017.
It is a facility that imports LNGs secured from abroad into Korea, then unloads, stores, mechanizes, and transmits them, and it is a key infrastructure of LNG midstream in Korea.
SK Prism Agility LNG Carrier
Secured LNG carrier
To transport shale gas liquefied in Freeport Terminal in the
U.S., SK Innovation E&S has been Korea's first private operator of a fleet only for the transportation since 2019.
DOWNSTREAM
Downstream is a business area that supplies or sells various energy sources including electricity and city gas so that customers can safely and conveniently use them.
SK Innovation E&S is Korea's leading energy company that produces and sells electricity and thermal power though LNG
power generation and combined heat & power (CHP) generation.
Map of China LNG Terminal
Secured LNG terminal in China and sold LNG in China.
In July 2020, it secured a stake in Zhouxian
LNG Terminal in Zhejiang Province, China,
supplying about 500,000 tons of
LNG annually to China.
SK Innovation E&S Power Plant
Contribute to power supply in Korea
by operating natural gas power plants
SK Innovation E&S operates a natural gas power plant
that uses natural gas to produce electricity
and is responsible for domestic energy
supply and demand.
